Argentina's November Inflation Forecast to Exceed 2%

Various consulting firms project that November's inflation will remain above 2%. If considering food consumed outside the home, the overall figure stands at around 2.9%. C&T Asesores Económicos projects a CPI of 2.4% for November in the Greater Buenos Aires (GBA) area. In line with this, they highlight that the annual variation slightly decreased, now standing at 29.1%. The price dynamics during the penultimate month of the year were influenced by three factors. - Beef: It had been accelerating since October and accelerated even more in November, giving a strong boost to the food consumed at home category, which rose 2.6% in the month, above the average. - Cyber Monday: The event led to price reductions in several sectors during the first week of the month, but had a particular impact on home equipment, which includes various appliances. - Regulated services: Public transport, electricity, and gas showed increases higher than in previous months. The adjustment in national bus lines circulating in the region is highlighted. Electricity and gas rose by around 4%, an increase higher than in previous months. The consulting firm also highlights the rise in the 'Clothing' category as the highest increase, at around 5%. Meanwhile, 'Education' maintained the pace of previous months while 'Health' accelerated slightly, both due to prepaid medical plans and medications. Among the highest projections was Econviews, which forecast inflation of 3.2% for November. In the penultimate month of the year, the increase in the monthly cost of living index would be marked by the rise in food prices. Once again, the figure is expected to exceed two points, as it did in September and October, with indices of 2.1% and 2.3%, according to information accessed by the Noticias Argentinas news agency. Main projections EcoGo estimates inflation at around 2.5%, although they warn that it is 'still preliminary and subject to modification'. Analytica estimates that the increase in the last four weeks was 2.3%. The first firm states that the 'increase in public transport and the rise in fuels had a 'limited' impact on the general level, partly due to it being the third week of the month and also compensating for smaller-than-expected increases in other sectors'. Regarding the 'food' sector, the firm headed by Sebastián Menescaldi projected a general index of 3.1% for food consumed at home, with a 0.4% increase, marking a deceleration of 0.5 percentage points. The same happened with LCG, which estimated a CPI of around 3.5%. When the official data is released Official inflation data for November will be known next Thursday, December 11, at 4:00 PM, when the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) releases the official figure. The last indicator was for October, which recorded a slight acceleration and closed at 2.3%, accumulating an increase of 31.3% in the last twelve months.
